Adaptations to Desert Environments

Because the Rio Grande River flows through arid regions, most of the organisms that we will see adjacent to the river will be adapted to the desert environment.

Expected Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course a fully engaged student should be able to

- identify and discuss the unique challenges associated with living in arid environments

- discuss adaptations of animals and plants for water uptake and water conservation

- discuss adaptations of animals and plants for dealing with high temperature
